Dr. Mark YarhousePsyD

Biography

Dr. Mark Yarhouse is the Dr. Arthur P. Rech and Mrs. Jean May Rech Professor of Psychology at Wheaton College, where he is a core faculty member in the doctoral programs in clinical psychology. Dr. Yarhouse also directs the Sexual & Gender Identity Institute at Wheaton College. His research and clinical focus is the intersection of sexual or gender identity and religious identity. Dr. Yarhouse has been a consultant to the National Institute of Corrections for work with sexual and gender minorities in the correction system and served on an APA consensus panel to provide input to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's reports on care for sexual and gender minority youth in 2015 and 2022. He is a certified psychosexual therapist and fellow of the International Association for Psychosexual Therapists and also certified as a sex therapist by the American Board of Christian Sex Therapists. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and is author or co-author of 20 books, including Understanding Gender Dysphoria: Navigating Transgender Issues in a Changing Culture and Sexuality & Sex Therapy: A Comprehensive Christian Appraisal.
